Ruminations: War and Finance

To All,
It is not that I need another project and God knows, it would be nice to receive a bobble in recompense for those that I presently have underway. There is however, a subject that has intrigued me throughout my adult life that I have yet to see addressed in a concise format. The subject in question is a homogenous blend of two others that I perceive of myself, to be well versed in: war and finance. In other words, I have long been fascinated by where the money comes from to carry on America's wars. World War Two had its war bond drive, of course. Bush Sr., got the Saudis to pay for Iraq#1. Bush #2 took the money for Iraq #2 from the American taxpayer. The North during the Civil War, had a financier who is periodically mentioned throughout history but is obscure even to my recollection. I have yet to see a comprehensive 1622 to "present," listing of each American military effort and where we got the money to carry each one out.
I believe such a chronological work coupled with a witty lambasting analysis would be quite marketable at this point in America's history. Not only would it address the issue of how money for war is raised, it would also inform the reader of just how many wars America has fought since its conception. That alone, would be quite an eye opener for most.
Your comments would be appreciated.
