Recently there have been some articles on the opinion page, one by our Congressman in the 18th District, the honorable Robert Ney, whining about press coverage of recent political events.
Well, I guess if you are embroiled in an ethics scandal, you should attack your accusers to try and save face and your career in politics. Gee, if you're exposed for taking trips to Scotland to golf, paid for by a lobbyist for an Indian casino, just attack the messenger. Then win enough money at a casino to pay off your credit card debt, then come back home and vote for bankruptcy reform -- denying millions of law-abiding Americans a chance at a fresh start, like erasing their credit card debt without visiting a very private casino, paid for by some very high-powered special-interest lobbyist.
How is that moral? Don't all Republicans claim this moral high ground all the time, talking about God and country when election time rolls around?
Speaking of ethics and morality, what in the world are state Republicans doing to the once-proud state of Ohio? Jobs are leaving, college grads are leaving, taxes are up -- there seems to be a new scandal every day. Hundreds of millions of taxpayer money just disappeared under the watchful eye of Republican leadership.
Will the people in charge of watching this money step forward and admit it? If they had any backbone and morals they would, but in Ohio Republicans seem to be missing the so-called "moral clarity" they all claim to have.
